Our Story

Peter and Mandy Harwood founded Planet Health in February 1996, with a vision to create a natural health distribution company like no other, providing unrivalled and innovative premium natural health products combined with customer service to exceed all expectations. Today, Planet Health is a leading distributor and marketer of premium natural health, skin and hair care products with national operations in Australia and the UK and partnerships with over 2000 retailers. Here’s the story of Planet Health’s incredible journey:

1996 to 1998 Planet Health is launched by Peter and Mandy and in the first year of trading Planet Health was appointed Australia’s sole distributor for Efamol, the international brand of scientifically proven essential fatty acids. Over the next three years Efamol sales more than doubled through Planet Health’s focus on in-store positioning, excellent service, training for retailers and focused marketing support. The success with Efamol was quickly replicated with the launch of Alchemy hair and body and Akin skin care which would soon become the market leaders.

1999 to 2000 Planet Health was by now a distribution and marketing force to be reckoned with! Lifestream, the award winning New Zealand producer of ’superfood’ products appointed Plant Health as sole agent for Australia reinforcing Lifestream as market leader in the ’superfood’ world. In 1999, Efamol were bought by Nutricia and contracts with distributors worldwide weren’t renewed – a bit of an issue when the brand represents 60% of your turnover! Spurred into even more creative business thinking, Peter and Mandy took the opportunity to expand which included the relocation in year 2000 of the business to larger premises in Bowral situated in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales. The business expansion also included the addition of the unique and premium quality Australian Bush Flower Essences to their list of selected brands.

2001 to 2004 The new millennium brought an industry slowdown but at Planet Health there was no time to look back! Sales continued to grow and exceed all forecasts each year, creating more employment opportunities in beautiful Bowral and nationwide. 2003 was a particularly exciting year when Peter and Mandy purchased the Bowral premises and completed major refurbishments designed to enhance customer excellence and create a stunning working environment. In the same year, they opened a sales office in Melbourne, a satellite warehouse in Perth to improve service to Western Australian customers and increased sales by another 35%. In 2004 the company was a finalist in the Telstra Small Business Awards, named one
of the top 5 businesses in New
South Wales.

2005 to 2008 New owners of Efamol brought the brand back to Planet Health in 2005 with sole import, marketing and distribution rights for Australia just in time for the 10th anniversary celebrations in 2006! Celebrations of a hugely successful 10 years included the launch of Qsilica, Planet Health’s first manufactured product, which quickly became a market leading product in Australia and New Zealand. Qsilica was created to promote ’Beauty from the Inside Out’ through healthy, strong connective tissue, smooth flexible skin and strong hair and nails.

2009 In 2009, Planet Health successfully introduced three new outstanding and premium brands; Watson & Son ’black label’ Manuka Honey brand with its unique healing properties, Planet Health’s own innovative and industry leading Qcell ’Age Defence Inside and Out’ capsules and cream and the darling of natural household cleaning products from leading ethical brand B_E_E.

2010 and beyond In January 2010, Planet Health expands internationally with the launch of their UK business with offices and distribution based in the beautiful and historical Cotswolds region. Brands for our initial UK launch included the incredibly successful Qsilica ’Beauty from the Inside Out’ range of colloidal silica capsules and gel, Watson & Son’s naturally healing ’black label’ Manuka Honey and the unique emotional care and wellbeing products from the innovative Australian Bush Flower Essence company. Planet Health UK was proud to introduce Qsilica to Harrods - the world’s most prestigious and famous luxury

department store based in Knightsbridge, London. Planet Health added to its premium selection of brands during 2010 with appointment as exclusive Australian distributor for the amazing pain relieving Fisiocrem and the beautiful Kosmea skin care brand for both Australia and the UK where it is now also available in Harrods. 2011 is proving to be an exciting year with the launch of the eco cleaning brand B_E_E in the UK, whilst global success for Planet Health’s Qsilica brand continues with its official launch in Singapore.
