The DOMInO trial is a randomised clinical study investigating the effects of DHA supplementation during pregnancy in relation to the mother’s postnatal mood as well as the neurodevelopment of their infants.

Early DOMInO trial results demonstrate a positive effect on maintaining a mother’s normal, healthy mood during pregnancy when compared with that of the general population. Also observed in the DOMInO group, was a reduction in the number of children classed as ‘slow developers’ when compared with placebo. This reduction was even greater in the boy subgroup. This result adds to the body of evidence supporting an adequate supply of the Omega-3 fatty acid DHA to encourage the normal, healthy development of an infant’s cognitive and neural function.  Supplementation with the Efamol DOMInO Formula for Mother and Baby also helped to support a normal pregnancy gestation when compared with placebo. The DOMInO trial continues and we soon hope to be able to report further outcomes.
